As I am still travelling, I am so happy to be done with these products because they were quite bulky compared to the rest of what I have and while I’m sad to be finished with them, it does feel good to have lightened my travel load. Continue reading →

If you follow me on Instagram, it should come as no surprise that these five products are this month’s favorites because they have all been in heavy rotation over the past few weeks and for good reason. With the changing weather, my skin has been on the drier side of combination and these products have helped me to keep it clear, smooth and hydrated. Continue reading →

Has Britain Changed?
For real change to happen the voices that have been marginalized need to be heard. While I do think it is essential for us all to work together, I don’t believe the people that created the problem should be the ones in-charge of how we make things better. I think it should be extremely obvious by now that those who hold power within this industry have not done enough to use their privilege to make space for more BIPOC voices. Brands, PR agencies, retailers and the media should be listening to these women who have lived this experience and been here fighting for representation all along. The burden is not on them to fix everything but without them at the forefront of the conversation there’s no way to really understand what’s gone wrong. As a community we need to communicate with honesty and an openness to admit how we got here so we can learn and change. I will post more about these incredible women in my stories now so please check them out and give each woman a follow. ❤️ #amplifymelanatedvoices
Two years ago the website I wrote for silenced me and it was devastating. I wrote an article about racism in the beauty industry and they declined to publish it. Now I see black squares from the brand and the editor that didn’t think my voice was worth hearing. The constant silencing of Black women and minority voices in this industry is not a new thing, which is why to suddenly see so many brands and people who have engaged in racism post about blacklivesmatter has felt like a slap in the face. I have now shared four posts on my blog (link in bio). One is the original @victoriahealth article, another is about @oskiaskincare and an incident that @esteelaundry posted about in 2018 and then two I wrote this week. This is really, really hard for me. I am devastated by police brutality, anti-blackness and racism and exhausted by this lifelong fight. Things need to change. We cannot keep telling the world that Black people are worthless and then act shocked when these murders happen. There are so many good people in this industry and community but if we can’t talk about how we got here, how can we truly change? I am not advocating for any bullying or abuse towards anyone, I want there to be accountability and action, and we can’t have that if we don’t talk.

AD: Following on from what I posted yesterday, a big part of creating a simple yet effective routine is finding the right ingredients for *your* skin. 🧖🏽‍♀️✨ Over the past few months I have almost completely changed my AM and PM routines and I now keep it pretty simple with just a few key ingredients that do the most 💥 for my skin without needing too many products/steps. @officialmedik8 have recently had a beautiful makeover 😍 and while I very much appreciate the new eco-conscious 🌿 packaging (over 300,000 plastic parts have been removed 🙏🏽), I LOVE their new “CSA” philosophy which is all about creating a simplified routine using vitamin C and Sunscreen during the day and vitamin A in the evening. 🍊☀️💎 This approach suits me perfectly as I truly believe less is more when it comes to taking care of the skin and these ingredients have been a big part of my routines for years. So far my faves are the Crystal Retinal 10 (obviously), the C-Tetra Serum and Physical Sunscreen (no white cast on me). These three now form the core of my simple, but very effective routines and I can’t wait to tell you more about what I’m using now because my skin is the happiest it’s been in a long time. ☺️ Until then, I’d love to know what ingredients you use the most. Which ones are your favourites? Do you use Vitamin A and C plus sunscreen daily? Could you keep your routines this simple/consistent? 🤓
On the blog now: my latest article for @victoriahealth is live and it’s something I have been thinking about for months and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. 🤓😅 Clearly, we are all passionate about skincare in this community, but is our “hobby” doing more damage than good? In my absence I took a step back from regularly reviewing products and in that time I rediscovered my love for simplicity and consistency. 🙌🏽 As a blogger it can be hard to resist every new launch, but the effects of constantly testing new products meant my skin was more hard to manage because there was not enough balance. Not only that, besides product fatigue being very real 😴💤, I worry about the fine line between sharing information on products I love and promoting unrealistic and unnecessary consumerism. 💸 In the post I share the tips that helped me take control of my skin AND stash, and so far I’m very happy with the results. Click the link in my bio to read more and please let me know what your approach to skincare is. Are your daily routines elaborate or simple? Is your stash overflowing or minimal? Do you feel like you’re missing out if you don’t buy every new launch? ❤️
