My oh my how time has flown! Here we are half way through July already (although yay summer!), which means it’s MINTD‘s first birthday! This is such a special occasion and I am so excited to tell you all about this celebratory box because it is a good one. Over the past year there have been mostly hits and a few misses from MINTD for me, but this beautifully curated selection has seriously impressed me. I have been introduced to new products from two of my favourite brands, discovered a lovely product from a brand I’ve never heard of and finally found a product I actually like (woo!) from a brand that hasn’t worked for me in the past. This is exactly what I love and hope for when it comes to beauty boxes and I am so pleased with every product in the 1st Birthday The Glow Edit.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM), Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Alcohol, Whey Protein, Zinc Glycine, Ribose, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture, Limonium Narbonense Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate Lysate, Galactoarabinan, Panthenol, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Inulin, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Petasites Japonicus (Butterbur) Root Extract, Parfum (Natural Fragrance), Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, [ +/- May Contain: Caramel, Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 75470 (Carmine), Silica].
OSKIA are easily one of my all time favourite brands and I had to talk about this serum first because the box is 100% worth the price (£65) just for this alone. Even though I have loved the brand for years and am obsessed with the cleanser, brightening serum and oil, I overlooked this product because it didn’t seem quite right for my skin type. Not only that, the name didn’t really “speak to me” in terms of what it would do, but after using it for the past couple of weeks I am in love and wish I had tried it sooner.
As always when it comes to anything OSKIA makes, this beauty goes above and beyond to brighten, energize, hydrate, protect, repair, soothe, smooth and plump for skin that glows with health. It contains an impressive mix vitamins, minerals, proteins/amino acids, glucides and “beauty supplements” like Butterbur and Swiss Apple Cell Culture. It has an exceptionally light, cool and watery gel texture that sinks in beautifully leaving a completely undetectable finish free from any tackiness. I wish the Renaissance Brightlight serum had this texture because it feels amazing on the skin and works so well with other products.Even though OSKIA say you can use this morning and night, I would stick to daytime use to get the most out of it. It has a tiny amount of light reflecting pigments (natural) that just perk up the skin without being obvious, making it perfect to wear under makeup. This is a great serum for summer and would work so well under sunscreen or a tinted moisturizer for a lovely summery glow-y yet natural look. It’s too early to report on any long time results, but this does provide a lit from within glow that I am loving right now.
Ingredients: Aqua (water), HIPPOPHAE RHAMNOIDES (SEABUCKTHORN) FRUIT JUICE, CENTAUREA CYANUS (CORNFLOWER) FLOWER WATER, XANTHAN GUM, PYRUS MALUS (APPLE) FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) FRUIT EXTRACT, VIGNA ACONITIFOLIA SEED EXTRACT, MALTODEXTRIN, MENTHA VIRIDIS (SPEARMINT) LEAF OIL, D-LIMONENE, CAPRYLYL/CAPRYL WHEAT BRAN/STRAW GLYCOSIDES, FUSEL WHEAT BRAN/POLYGLYCERYL-5 OLEATE, SODIUM COCOYL GLUTAMATE, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, GLYCERIN, CALENDULA OFFICINALIS (MARIGOLD) FLOWER EXTRACT, LACTIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE.
Supermood is a brand I had never heard of until now and it has become one of my most favourite MINTD discoveries. Founded by Anne Kukkohovi out of Finland, this indie company is all about mixing holistic beauty with a little K-Beauty influence (name and design) and it works so well. The packaging is cool with a bit of quirk (millennials would love this brand) and ingredients like gingko bilboa, vitamin c, green tea, bentonite, natural fruit acids and a retinol alternative means this is a super multitasking mask – it will clarify, nourish, soothe, brighten, repair and more.
The mask has a creamy almost paste like texture that feels cooling on the skin and smells a bit minty and fruity. There is a mild tingling effect and you only need to leave it on for 10 minutes or so, which makes it perfect for giving the skin a little boost in the morning. It’s gentle enough to be used every day if you wanted, although I would reserve it for days when you skin needs a quick pick-me-up. It rinses completely clean with just warm water and I love how my skin feels afterwards – purified yet not dry and incredibly soft and smooth. I don’t have any masks that compare to this in terms of texture, ingredients and results and I can see myself easily using this up, which doesn’t always happen with beauty box products.
This mask has got me so excited to try more from Supermood and I seriously can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them before. They have such an interesting mix of products including a lovely sounding oil-based face wash, Bedside Chocolate (!!!!!), pillow spray and even beauty powders and supplements. If like me you have never heard of this brand and want to know more, they are stocked in Space NK or you can learn more about the brand here.
Ingredients: MARIS AQUA (SEA WATER)/EAU DE MER, AQUA (WATER)/EAU, POLYSORBATE 20, GLUCOSYL HESPERIDIN, BENZYL ALCOHOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, CHLORPHENESIN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, TEPHROSIA PURPUREA SEED EXTRACT, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, GINKGO BILOBA LEAF EXTRACT, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, CUCURBITA PEPO (PUMPKIN) SEED EXTRACT, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, ACETYL HEXAPEPTIDE-8, LACTIC ACID, CI 42090 (BLUE 1).
Anne Semonin has featured in a couple of MINTD boxes already, but sadly none of the products I tried worked for me – until now. Even though I haven’t had a great track record with this renowned French brand, I was actually happy to see these in the box because they are one of the most buzzed about products that they make and I had been curious about them for years. I was a bit nervous to try these at first, but thankfully they ended up working so well for me and couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The recent heatwave had deprived me of several good night’s sleep and my eyes were in desperate need of some TLC, which is exactly what these provided.
These brilliant ice cubes are the more advanced version of placing cucumbers over your eyes and let me tell you, they feel incredible. After a long day staring at a computer screen or after a night of restless sleep, these feel like the nicest thing in the world, there’s no other way to describe it. You pop them in the freezer for at least 3 hours, wrap the solid “cube” (it’s circular) in the cute gauze bag and massage your eye area with it. It does start to get a bit messy as the mixture melts, but it’s worth it. The cold cube feels cooling (obviously), soothing, refreshing and relaxing and it’s such a great way to destress after a long day. The ingredients include hesperidin to help with dark circles, gingko bilboa for micro-circulation, gourd (pumpkin) to soothe and wild indigo stimulate the release of endorphins, as well as hyaluronic acid peptides and a little lactic acid. The only real negative for me is the dye, which I don’t like in my skincare products, especially those designed for the eye area.
I would use these every day if they were not so expensive and the results have inspired me to create my own DIY eye cubes, which I will do a blog post on once I’ve tested my mixes out a bit more. I love the idea of this and the immediate results are something you feel as well as see. Even though the ingredients aren’t quite as good as I would like them to be, this product is still a winner because they work so well and for this time of year, are a dream to use.
Ingredients: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ/Bran Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Parfum (Fragrance), Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Mica, Tocopherol, Aqua (Water), Beta-Carotene, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Colloidal Gold, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 77861 (Tin Oxide), Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol, Eugenol, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Farnesol, Coumarin, Citral, Evernia Prunastri, Isoeugenol, Benzyl Alcohol.
Like OSKIA, Omorovicza are a brand I have loved of years and this product is again one I overlooked and shouldn’t have. Even though I adore many of the Hungarian brand’s excellent skincare products, this is my first time trying their body care products and I really should have done it sooner. This body oil is absolutely gorgeous and is packed with skin loving ingredients like squalane, jojoba, apricot and carrot oils and colloidal gold. The scent is incredible and smells rich and exotic without being overpowering. I would never usually go for something like this, but it makes the skin look amazing and the shimmer is noticeable, but not over the top.
I’ll definitely be taking this with me the next time I find myself heading to the beach because aside from the shimmer effect, it is actually a lovely body oil – not at all greasy and it absorbs really well. It is seriously the ultimate summertime/vacation product because it gives the skin a lovely subtle glow and would look so pretty at nighttime. The size is also perfect for travel because a little goes a long way and you can reuse the bottle too.
Ingredients: White tea, Jasmine, Blue Mallow Flowers, Gingko Leaves, Spirulina.
Tea, is not something I ever expected to see in a MINTD box, but this one was a very pleasant surprise. Quinteassential are a relatively new brand created by Bernadine Tay, who is doing big things in the tea world. She is Wedgwood’s (legendary British luxury tableware company) first global tea curator and has also created a bespoke blend for fashion brand Amanda Wakeley. This is not the teas you will find at Starbucks or your local supermarket, and Bernadine really knows her stuff after working with Jane Pettigrew (tea expert – what a job!) and going on to win seven awards for her creations.
Like most people, I love tea and really enjoyed this one. The blend is delicious and the ingredients actually elevate it to something more health conscious than typical tea blends. The mix of white tea, jasmine and spirulina is so unique and unexpected, but it works so well. I also loved putting together my own tea bag, because it meant I could customize the strength and not use more than I need. Unlike skincare, there’s not really much I can say about tea other than I liked it, it’s delicious over ice (so refreshing) and if you’re looking for something a little more special when it comes to tea, this is it.
MINTD have had such a fantastic first year and this box is a great way to showcase and celebrate that. As always the value is such an incredible deal with the box being worth £171, but only costing £65 and as I said before, that’s just the price of the OSKIA serum. You can also get free worldwide shipping on your first box with the code WELCOME17 and if you subscribe to the 3, 6 or 12 plan you will receive a free Argentum Illuminating Hydrating Bar worth £104, which I am loving.
I can’t believe how quickly time has flown by since the first MINTD box launched and I am so excited to see what this new year brings. Happy 1st Birthday, MINTD and cheers to many, many more!
