August has been a whirlwind month for me with a few downs as well as ups, but getting this month’s MINTD Box was a total highlight. I have been so excited to talk about this ever since it arrived and after some pesky mercury retrograde electrical related setbacks (both my phone and laptop were acting up), I can finally do just that. The theme of the box for August is ‘The Recovery Edit’ and honestly it could not have come at a more perfect time. All the products in the box have been picked to help heal, soothe and revive the skin after too much fun in the summertime sun, but for me they just made me happy during a time when a lot of crazy things were going on personally and globally. That has become one of my favourite things about receiving the MINTD box every month – it’s such a treat to have a box full of goodies arrive on my doorstep each month and with each of them consistently proving to be (somehow) better than the last, it’s so worth the cost. This month as always the price is £65, but the value is almost £150 with a saving of £80 and this box is such a good one to get. It’s one of the best MINTD have ever done and I got to discover four new-to-me brands and fall in love with products I know I will repurchase.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Hyaluronic Acid, Glyceryl, Betaine Polycrylte,Glycerine, Hexylene Glycol, Fructose, Glucose, Sacrose, Dextrin, Alanine, Glutamic Acid, Aspartic Acid, Hexyl Nicotinate, Mel (Honey) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea), Hamamelis Virginiana (witch Hazel) Bark/Leaves/Twig Extract, Chlorphenesin, Alcohols, C12-14, ethoxylated; Glycols, 1,2-, C12-16, ethoxylated propoxylated; Castor oil, hydrogenated with EO., Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol
Up first for review is this beautiful essence, which is probably my favourite discovery from the box and one I know I will buy over and over again. This is a brand I first noticed while at the gorgeous Josh Wood Atelier, where I believe Su-Man herself does facials or at least used to (I hope she still does). I had also seen some of the products featured on Instagram and didn’t really know what the brand was about or if the products were right for me, but I was definitely curious, so finding this in the box was such an exciting surprise. I immediately fell in love with the pretty yet chic packaging, but once I read through the inci list I knew it was going to be a keeper and I was not wrong.
I started testing this immediately, which to be honest, doesn’t always happen and have used it pretty much every single day since it arrived because I absolutely love it. It’s sort of like a toner/essence/serum hybrid which you use after cleansing and before moisturizing and it is packed full of great ingredients like hyaluronic acid, green tea (my fave), honey, witch hazel and amino acids. It has a lovely delicate rose scent and the texture is perfect. It is a light and watery gel that applies beautifully and absorbs really well, leaving behind a dry to the touch non-sticky finish. You only need one pump of this for your whole face making it excellent value for money and it layers perfectly with my other products. True to its name, this product is all about rehydrating the skin, but it’s also does so much more than that because for me it has worked very well to calm inflammation and repair any damage from breakouts. This would be such a great product for those with combination or acne prone skin because it helps balance moisture levels, while also preventing and healing blemishes thanks to the green tea, witch hazel and honey. It also feels so refreshing and cooling and leaves me with super soft, smooth, dewy skin.
Su-Man is a brand I am so happy to have discovered through MINTD and I cannot wait to try more from them. I have heard great things about the cleanser and I know the brightening serum (featured in a previous box I missed) received great reviews. I highly recommend you check out the Su-Man website (here) because there are some great tips in the “Su-Man Says” section and you can read all about the beautiful founder’s journey from professional dancing to creating her very own highly acclaimed skincare line. I am now a firm fan of Su-Man’s and this essence has quickly become one of my favourite products, which says it all.
Like many bloggers out there (if not all of them), I am huge fan of candles and this beauty has jumped up the list to sit among my most favourites. Again, I had seen Cocolux on Instagram and really loved the look of the copper and brass full size candles (here), but never got a chance to check them out in store. This cute new travel size was such a delight to find in the box and I completely fell in love with it. The scent is absolutely heavenly and smells like summer in a jar. It’s warm yet slightly sweet and zesty, and has the loveliest tropical “summer night” vibe, which I cannot get enough of.
Cocolux is a relatively new brand out of Australia and all the candles are made with “earth-friendly” coconut wax and hand poured in gorgeous reusable copper jars. The packaging is beyond chic and even the outer boxes are like a work of art. The founder Meisha Strykowksi has created such a unique and stunning range of candles in an already well stocked and overflowing market and I think her success (the candles are stocked all over the world already) is a testament to how perfectly she has combined nature and luxury. These candles are on another level and not just because of the incredible design, but because of the scents, which are elevated and inviting. I have this one by my bed and the scent permeates the room without overpowering it and the little black glass jar packaging is so chic and perfect for travel (which I’m a big fan of doing).
MINTD have featured a couple of candles before, but this is without a doubt my favourite. This is my kind of scent and style and I already have a list of others I want to try from Cocolux like the Island Fig, Cassis & Peach and the Coconut, Ginger & Pomelo, both of which sound so yummy. If you love candles then I cannot recommend this brand enough. You can find them stocked in Selfridges in London, Nordstorm in the US and Boutique 1 in the UAE. MINTD did a lovely interview with Meisha that you can read here and you can check out the full Cruise Collection (love the white jars too) here.
Ingredients: Organic Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Unrefined Cocoa Butter, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Safflower Oil, Organic Sesame Oil, Organic Beeswax, Sunflower Seed Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Rose Absolute, Organic Australian Sandalwood, Organic Immortelle, Organic Lavender, Organic Palmarosa, Non-GMO Vitamin E.
Back to skincare and it’s time to talk about my other favourite product discovery from the box, which is this gorgeous facial balm from Earth Tu Face. I love a good oil/balm and this was such a beautiful product that I know will be used regularly come September. It has a gorgeous buttery texture that just melts into the skin when you apply it and I love the scent. It’s floral and soothing and the mix of immortelle and rose work so well together. This would be an excellent balm for those with particularly dry or mature skin because the combination of reparative and regenerating active botanicals (immortelle) along with healing and calming oils and butters, means it will deeply moisturize and protect the skin during the winter months. This is slightly more than my combo skin needs right now, but after trying it a few times in my nighttime routine (using a tiny amount and applying on to misted skin), I know it will work well once the chill sets in.
I am so glad this balm was in the box because Earth Tu Face are a brand I have seen around for quiet some time, but never really gravitated towards (my mistake) and now I plan on trying more from them. Founded by two herbalists in my hometown state of California, the products are quintessentially green and thoughtfully crafted. I love the ethos Sarah and Marina have maintained through the seven years since they started the brand and absolutely love and appreciate that they donate to Planned Parenthood, the Center for Biological Diversity and the ACLU. I know of many bigger more “trendy” green brands that don’t do anything like this and it says a lot about the integrity of both women. If like me, you find yourself a bit exasperated with green brands at the moment (more on that soon) then please check this out one here.

This product was featured in last year’s August MINTD box (coincidentally) and even though it has undergone a name and design change, the product itself is exactly the same. You can read my original review here and all I will add after using up the first bottle is that while the baby lotion scent isn’t my favourite, it does work really well and I am happy to have another tube to help prep my skin for the change in season. Also, if you suffer with “chicken skin” or find other body exfoliants too abrasive then give this one a go because it’s effective without being harsh.
Ingredients: Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Colloidal Silver, Colloidal Gold, Hydrolyzed Pearl, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Enantia Chloranthia Bark Extract, Oryza Sativa Bran Extract, Sea Salt Extract, Repagermanium, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Benzoate, Pentylene Glycol, Menthol, Disodium EDTA, Laurel Glucoside, Oleanolic Acid, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Chloride, Dimethylacrylamide/Acrylic Acid/Polystrene Ethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Phenoxyethonal, Parfum.
As I said above, this is one of my favourite boxes that MINTD have put together and if I were to have any complaints it would be with this one, but only because it’s not right for my skin. This cute little cleanser from Själ was a little too deep for my skin type and while I actually really like the ingredients (rose quartz, pearl extract, colloidal silver and gold, fig and aloe vera) and non-foaming gel-crème texture, it’s not something I would be able to use daily as it did leave my skin feeling a little tight and that’s a shame. Despite that, I am so happy that I got to try something from the brand because I find their use of precious metals and gems so interesting and even though this cleanser wasn’t quite right for me, I still want to try more from the brand. I spent a lot of time browsing their website (here) and really loved learning more about mother/daughter founders Karen and Kristin and their East meets West approach to energy infused luxury skincare.
This is a brand with one of the most unsual inci lists that I have seen in a long time and I love the sound of the Energy Tonic packed full of anti-bacterial gold and silver, adaptogens and the brands signature rose quartz. I also LOVE the look of their Gemstone Radiance Tool Kit featuring gem stones to promote healing and peacefulness, as well as the book on Elemental Energy written by Kristin. I feel like I learned a lot on their site and the blog post about how to create a “Gold Matcha Firming Mask” is something I will be doing very soon. I haven’t really seen Själ featured that much in the skincare community (outside of PR collabs), which is why I was so happy to find them in this box. I find their approach to skincare so interesting and unique and even though I can’t use this cleanser daily, I will use it once a week or so to “reset” my skin. If you have super oily or acne prone skin this could be a great option for you as a detoxifying cleanser and you can read more about it here.
Overall this box was near perfect for me and I am so happy with the type of brands and products MINTD are now featuring. The boxes seriously just get better and better and if you haven’t subscribed yet, this is a great one to start with, although I do think I said the same thing last month, which tells you how much I mean it. You can find out more about subscribing to the box here, plus you can get free worldwide delivery with the code WELCOME17 (free for the UK already) as well as a free Argentum Illuminating Hydrating Bar worth £104 when you sign up for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription. In the meantime, if you head to my Instagram page (here), MINTD and I have teamed up to give one of you a chance to win this box before they all sell out! Good luck!
