Of course my first blog post of the year has ended up involving Deciem! While this was not the plan, it seems those sneaky monkeys have been keeping a pretty big secret from us, which I cannot keep from you, so here we are with the exciting reveal. When The White Company first reached out to me about trying their mysterious new launch I was pretty excited because I immediately thought “oooh, candles!” and oh, how wrong I was. Instead what arrived was a beautifully big white box full of……skincare! Yep, that’s right, The White Company are launching their very first line of skincare products and they partnered with Deciem to do it! Continue reading

September and October Favourites: The Ordinary Skincare Full Review Part 1

Update: to read my complete 27 product full review of The Ordinary please click HERE.

PSA/Update: I want to address the current issue with Deciem at the moment. Many people have asked me for equally affordable options to these products because they no longer support the brand as a result of the founders actions. I can completely understand that and if you are someone who is looking for an alternative than please check out the new line Garden of Wisdom for Victoria Health. The have created a brilliant set of products that are very affordable, extremely well made (with much better textures), and seriously result-driven ingredients and formulas. I will have a full review soon, but in the mean time you can check them out here. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below or message me on Instagram.

It’s been almost two months since Victoria Health launched Deciem’s new line The Ordinary and it has been a total whirlwind for everyone involved! From the moment it was announced there has been such an incredible buzz about it and that has not stopped. I probably got about 20 messages about it within an hour of the debut and since then The Ordinary has become one of my most asked about brands. By now, most of you will know what this new “skincare concept” is all about, but if you’re still new to it, you can read my introduction to the brand here. As I said in that post, this has become one of the biggest (and arguably most important) launches in the history of skincare and a total gamechanger. I have been using 5 out of the 10 products for the past few weeks now and can’t wait to tell you all about them, because they have proved to be far from ordinary… Continue reading

First Impressions: Stemm Shampoo, Conditioner and Serum Review

img_1451

After the revolutionary launch of The Ordinary only a month ago, I really wasn’t expecting much from Deciem. I knew they had their hands well and truly full trying to keep up with the demand for those products, but of course, we should always expect the unexpected when it comes to this wonderfully abnormal bunch. A week ago, this image appeared on both Deciem’s and Victoria Health’s Instagram pages with the caption: #tuesday – simple, mysterious and tantalizing but for me, an exciting reveal as I quickly put two and two together and realized that Stemm (I had seen the logo at the top of the Deciem website) would finally be launching in Victoria Health’s October Newsletter (released on Tuesdays) and it did. I guessed (because of the name) that it would be some sort of scalp focused hair brand but had no idea it would be quite like this and the response? Wow. According to Deciem, Victoria Health sold 2 months worth of projections in just 2 DAYS. I was lucky enough to receive my set on Friday and used all three for the first time Saturday night. Since many of you are so curious about Deciem’s latest launch I thought I would fill you in on my first impressions. Continue reading

Today is no ordinary day. This morning, Victoria Health exclusively launched The Ordinary from DECIEM and to quote their fellow Canadian Drake, nothing was the same (sorry, couldn’t help myself lol). In all seriousness, this is one of the biggest skincare launches in the history of the beauty industry and excited doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel or how important this is, not only to me, but to the industry as a whole.

I have been such a huge fan of Victoria Health’s newsletters ever since I discovered the amazing site a few years ago and have grown to look forward to them every month because Gill just writes the best emails. They are like love letters to the skin and I feel like I am hearing from a dear friend, not receiving a mass circulation from a company, but that’s just a small part of what makes Victoria Health so special and you will hear more from me about them very soon. First Impressions: NIOD Non-Acid Acid Precursor 15%

IMG_6412

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Bisabolol, Glycerin, Ethyl Linoleate, Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate, Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3, Yeast Extract, Soy Amino Acids, Pseudoalteromonas Exopolysaccharides, Lecithin, Sorbitan Isostearate, Isohexadecane, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polysorbate 60, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Salicylate, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Pentylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

Originally I had planned to do a brief overview of the three newest products from NIOD but since there has been so much interest in this one, I thought I would single it out for a more in-depth ‘First Impressions’ post. NAAP is NIOD’s answer to the traditional acids and retinoids out there, which the founder Brandon Truaxe believes provide short-term value that is not worth the inflammation caused. This could not have launched at a better time for me because for the past few weeks I have drastically reduced my acid usage and surprisingly, but also not so surprising, the improvement to my skin is big. Since using NAAP I am so on board with the non-acid exfoliation movement and love how my skin behaves. Continue reading

Like many of you, when I hear about a new product from a brand I love, I want it immediately. This could not have been more true than when I found out that NIOD were releasing a face mask. I love NIOD and I love masks, so this purchase was a no brainer. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it pretty quickly via the amazing Victoria Health and since so many of you have been asking me about it already (we skincare addicts are pretty impatient it seems), I have decided to do a ‘First Impressions” post to give you all the essential information and my initial thoughts.
