The Debate: The Boring Truth About My Skin (And Probably Yours)

Ever notice how when your skin is freaking out, you pare back your routine to the bare minimum? Like me, you probably cut out strong actives such as acids and retinol, up the hydration and stick to only three-five products (or less) in a routine. Sound familiar? It is something I think almost everyone does instinctively and there’s a good reason for it – this just might be what our skin really wants from us. While it has become increasingly popular to acquire lots of products and perform up to ten steps per routine, most of us could very easily use way less and have better skin for it. Boring, I know, but it’s a truth I have finally accepted about my skin and it has made such a big difference. Continue reading

Mortar & Milk: One Of The Best Facials I’ve Ever Had

(Disclaimer – the treatment was complimentary but this post is not an ad, paid for or sponsored and does not contain any affiliate links.)

As with every post that will come this month, this one is painfully overdue. My personal life took a bit of a turn after the summer (more on that here) and anything extracurricular went out the window, including writing about this, which I had been so excited to do. I have hinted about this review on Instagram for months now (so sorry!) and included the shop in my recent Top 10 Niche Retailers post, but now it’s time to dive into the details of the best facial I ever had. I am so happy to finally be sharing this post with you because Mortar & Milk is a true hidden gem in the London beauty world and Pamela Marshall (co-founder and Aesthetician) is a skincare legend in the making. (Disclaimer – this post is not an ad, paid for or sponsored and there are no affiliate links.)

This post has been long, long, long overdue on the blog. As you will have read from my 2017 #SkinGoals, a family emergency lead to an unexpectedly long hiatus from blogging and this write-up (which I had been working on for months) never got finished. It was originally scheduled to go up over the summer, then on Small Business Saturday (both US and UK dates), then before Christmas (then after) and now here we are. I have been so excited to talk about this for such a long time now and I can’t wait to finally share all my favourite places to shop with you. Continue reading

IMG_9716

One of the things I love most about my birthday is the freedom to treat myself all month long (yes all month, hello Leo season!) without feeling guilty and what I unabashedly want most is more skincare. Yep, I love skincare so much that I have multiple categorized (cleansers, toners etc) and ranked (most wanted to casual wants) wish lists dedicated to all the beautiful products I can’t wait to get on my face, and this post is a look at the things I want right now. On The Road Beauty Buys

IMG_1110

If you already follow me on Instagram, then you will know that I have been on the road for most of this month. It has been a crazy few weeks with over 10 flights and despite my best efforts, it wasn’t always possible for me to keep my skin looking its best. Thankfully, everywhere I went I was able to find a Sephora to buy some products to deal with the issues my skin was having as a result of all the travelling. These are my favourite picks from my purchases and the ones that worked the best. Continue reading

Birthday Skincare Wish List

IMG_9460

A few weeks ago I shared on Instagram a post about the skincare products I wanted for my birthday. It was more for fun than an actual demand for presents but I still enjoyed the process of really thinking about which skincare items I would most like to receive and why. I am very particular about my skincare shopping and over the past couple of years have really toned down my “impulse purchases”. A lot of research goes into anything I decide to buy and I have either tried a sample and loved it or it’s a product from a brand I know and trust and I’m confident I will love. So, without further adieu, here’s what made the list. Continue reading
