Sarah Chapman Skinesis Eye Tight Treatment Review

IMG_0203

As many of you will know, this summer has been a busy one for me. I have gone from one exhausting and demanding (but also exciting and rewarding) week to the next and suddenly it’s September and I don’t quite know how that happened. Because of everything that I have been doing lately, sleep has been in short supply and after many, many late nights and endless hours spent staring at a computer screen, my eyes started to show it. I genuinely looked as exhausted as I felt and that’s never a good thing. When Sarah Chapman launched two new treatments focused on the eye area, it could not have come at a better time. My eyes were dark and dry, and I had suddenly developed a few fine lines, so it was time to do something. Continue reading

MINTD August Box Review

IMG_9286

After how much I loved Mintd’s July box (review here), you can bet I was impatient excited to get my hands on this month’s offerings and it did not disappoint. Even though this is only Mintd’s second box, the amazing founder Cheryl has curated an excellent selection of products that I could not wait to try. The theme for this month is ‘Explore’ and the box provides you with everything you need to give yourself a proper head to toe pamper. I’ve had the products for about two weeks now and in this post I will fill you in on how I’ve been getting on with everything. Continue reading

Best of British: S5 Cleansers Review

IMG_9156

After a brief hiatus, the concluding series of posts in my Best of British feature is back and I am starting with a plant based yet still high performance niche UK brand that has impressed me to no end. S5 is an organic cosmeceuticals line of products from the same incredibly talented, hardworking and passionate team behind the beautiful brand Evolve (review here), so you know it’s going to be good. Unlike Evolve, which focuses on nourishing the skin with gorgeous (and borderline edible) superfood ingredients, S5 is all about treating skin conditions with highly effective natural ingredients that are just as good or better than their synthetic equivalent. For example, I can’t wait to write about their amazing serums that tackle everything from blemishes and hyperpigmentation to scarring and dermatitis, but those are currently being reformulated (which I am so excited about), so for now it’s all about these cleansers, which so many of you have asked about since they started appearing in my Instagram posts. The Debate: Detail Oriented Beauty is 1!

IMG_9805

One year ago today I started Detail Oriented Beauty (you can see my first post here) as a way to share and document my skincare and green beauty journey and what a journey it has been! I can’t thank you all enough for the constant love, support, friendship, laughter, advice, help and encouragement you have given to me because without it I wouldn’t still be doing this. I always say that the best thing about having my Instagram account and this blog is the connections I’ve made and I have truly loved getting to know each and every one of you in our lovely little skincare community. It has been amazing to talk about and share my love for skincare with you all and I have learned so much in the process and been able to help others in a way that I never had when I was struggling with my skin, which means the world to me. I’ve learned a lot (my skin hates lactic acid but loves niacinamide), discovered a lot (La Belle Lune, Bravura London, NIOD etc) and made a lot of amazing friends (you know who you are!) and I have loved every minute of it, no matter how frustrating  it seemed at times. Best of British: An Introduction to Evolve Organic Beauty and a Giveaway!

IMG_5192

I was first introduced to Evolve late last year through the lovely Swapna over at Beauty Motormouth and as soon as I decided I wanted to do a Best of British series, they were immediately at the top of my list of brands to feature. Evolve products are hand crafted in small batches in a little town just outside of London and are vegan and cruelty free. Founded by the incredibly talented Harvard Business School graduate Laura Rudoe (also founder of S5 Skincare and previously at NUDE skincare) along with Violaine Bargues (Production Development Management) and Freya Krauskopf (Studio Manager), these ladies have created a line of superfood focused, affordable, natural and organic products that are effective and beautifully formulated. Evolve only launched in June of last year but their small yet impressive lineup is well made, incredibly fresh and contains a high level of natural and organic ingredients. I have been so impressed with everything I have tried and I think Evolve is a great “little” brand doing big things in the green beauty world. Continue reading
