The Debate: Detail Oriented Beauty is 1!

IMG_9805

One year ago today I started Detail Oriented Beauty (you can see my first post here) as a way to share and document my skincare and green beauty journey and what a journey it has been! I can’t thank you all enough for the constant love, support, friendship, laughter, advice, help and encouragement you have given to me because without it I wouldn’t still be doing this. I always say that the best thing about having my Instagram account and this blog is the connections I’ve made and I have truly loved getting to know each and every one of you in our lovely little skincare community. It has been amazing to talk about and share my love for skincare with you all and I have learned so much in the process and been able to help others in a way that I never had when I was struggling with my skin, which means the world to me. I’ve learned a lot (my skin hates lactic acid but loves niacinamide), discovered a lot (La Belle Lune, Bravura London, NIOD etc) and made a lot of amazing friends (you know who you are!) and I have loved every minute of it, no matter how frustrating  it seemed at times. When I asked Imelda what her skincare routine would look like if she only used British brands I had no idea what I was getting myself in to! What she came back with was a list of the most covetable products and the most indulgent “slow” routine that it just had to have it’s own post. As expected from someone who lives and breathes skincare and green beauty, every single step has been considered and what she uses is of the very best quality. Keep reading to find out which products made the cut and how you can win every single product in Imelda’s spectacular “Best of British” Skincare Routine. Continue reading

An Introduction to Evolve Organic Beauty and Giveaway!

IMG_5192

I was first introduced to Evolve late last year through the lovely Swapna over at Beauty Motormouth and as soon as I decided I wanted to do a Best of British series, they were immediately at the top of my list of brands to feature. Evolve products are hand crafted in small batches in a little town just outside of London and are vegan and cruelty free. Founded by the incredibly talented Harvard Business School graduate Laura Rudoe (also founder of S5 Skincare and previously at NUDE skincare) along with Violaine Bargues (Production Development Management) and Freya Krauskopf (Studio Manager), these ladies have created a line of superfood focused, affordable, natural and organic products that are effective and beautifully formulated. Evolve only launched in June of last year but their small yet impressive lineup is well made, incredibly fresh and contains a high level of natural and organic ingredients. I have been so impressed with everything I have tried and I think Evolve is a great “little” brand doing big things in the green beauty world. Continue reading

November Favourites, Bravura London Review and Giveaway!

FullSizeRender

If you follow me on Instagram, then you will know I have been pretty obsessed with Bravura London for the past couple of months. The 2% Salicylic Acid Peel was my most used product in November and now with the addition of the 10% Glycolic Acid Peel and the Revitalising Ginseng Toner, my obsession is off the charts. It was so easy for me to pick them as last month’s favourites because I have used them more than any other product I own and have seen better results than with anything else I use. I have also been getting so many questions about them that I thought it was high time I did a review so you can get an idea of what they’re like and decide which one is right for you. Continue reading
