2015 Favourites

IMG_3725

Happy New Year, everyone!!! This is my third yearly Favourites but my first one on the blog and I am so excited to be able to talk about each product in more detail. Every product here has been my most loved/most used in their respective categories throughout 2015 and this time around it was so easy to pick my favourites – I just knew already. Even though some of these products are more recent discoveries than others, all of them have become firm staples in my collection that I reached for time and time again last year, so keep reading to find out why!

CLEANSER: OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL £28 (Repeat Favourite Award)

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Aqua, Cetearyl Olivate, Sucrose Laurate, Benzyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Olivate, Sucrose Palmitate, Parfum (Natural), Geraniol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Citronellol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Lactobacillus/Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Ferment Extract, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Sucrose Stearate, Linalool, Retinyl Palmitate, Ci 77491, Jojoba Esters, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. All Natural Ingredients.

This amazing cleanser has been a staple ever since it launched over two years ago and has made it in to my 2013 and 2014 favourites (as well as my recent October Favourites), so you know I mean it when I say it’s one of my favourite cleansers of all time. As I’ve only been blogging for a couple of months, I haven’t got round to doing a full review of it yet but that will be coming up shortly so I won’t say too much more about it now. Until then, just know that this is an amazing cleanser and I highly recommend it for every skin type.

ACID TONER: BRAVURA LONDON REVITALISING GINSENG TONER* £12.40 (Best Rediscovery Award)

Ingredients: Purified Water, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, Horse Chestnut Extracts, Glycolic Acid and Ammonium Glycolate, Glycerin, Glucose, Fructose, Sucrose, Urea, Dextrin, Alanine, Glutamic Acid, Hexyl Nicotinate, Ginseng Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Biotin, Polysorbate 20, Fragrant Oil.

I have blogged and instagrammed so much about this product (you can read the full review here) that I don’t know what more to say about it other than I love it and I am so glad to have rediscovered the brand this year. If you love the much hyped Glow Tonic then you must try this. The ingredients are much better (no dyes for one), the packaging is gorgeous and more eco friendly and Amanda (the amazing founder) is so hands on and will personally help you find the right products to suit your skin’s needs. Bravura London are currently running a 20% off promotion so if you have wanted to try this toner or one of the incredible peels, now’s your chance!

HYDRATING TONER: ASTER AND BAY BRIGHTENING TONER $26

Ingredients: Distilled water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, glycrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract*, lactobacillus/kelp ferment filtrate, dead sea salt, vegetable glycerin, zingiber officinale (ginger) oil*, citric acid. *organic.

This is such a sad favourite as it’s currently unavailable due to sourcing issues with one of the ingredients, but I truly loved it last year and just had to include it in my favourites. I featured it in my September Favourites and it will be in my upcoming Empties (boo) and I really hope Aster and Bay bring it back because the ingredients are excellent and I really enjoyed using it. It was incredibly hydrating and balancing and had a lovely and refreshing “ocean” scent. As an alternative, their Rosewater Mist has a really nice mix of ingredients and the brand are also currently offering 20% off all orders.

ANTI-AGING SERUM: NIOD COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 1% £38 15ml/£60 30ml (Most Impressive Award)

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Glycerin, Ethoxydiglycol, Pentylene Glycol, Copper Tripeptide-1, Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol.

NIOD made an incredible debut last year and I am so happy about it because they have released some truly innovative and exciting products and this is my favourite of them all. I did a full review here where you can read all about it and see exactly why I think this is one of the best products out there. I recently got another bottle and even though this launched less than a year ago, it has already been reformulated to make it more user friendly and I love that about the brand – they are constantly improving and striving for the very best. If you try just one product from NIOD then this should be it. It’s a do-it-all serum that would work for anyone.

HYDRATING SERUM: EVOLVE BEAUTY HYALURONIC SERUM 200 £28

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Water*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract*, Glycerin, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Sodium Sodium Dehydroacetate. *Ingredients from organic farming.

I am so, so happy Evolve Beauty was recommended to me because this is one of the best Hyaluronic Acid serums I have tried. I love the ingredients – rose water, aloe vera and konjac root are amazing for the skin and on top of that, the serum is 24% organic and 99.3% natural, which is amazing. This is a relatively new British brand and so far I am loving everything. They have excellent international shipping rates and right now they are offering a whopping 30% off all orders, so if you want to try this serum or get one of the sets I blogged about, then now is your chance. I will be doing a full review of everything I have very soon.

TREATMENT SERUM: KYPRIS CLEARING SERUM $62/£48 (Most Loved Award)

Ingredients: Water/Aqua, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Oil, Glycerin, Zinc PCA, Syringa Vulgaris (Lilac) Leaf Cell Culture Extract, Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Sarcosine, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Phospholipids, Larrea Tridentata (Chaparral) Extract, Asiaticoside, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Phragmites Communis Extract, Poria Cocos Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Montmorillonite,  Sclerotium Gum, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil,  Phytosterols, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Lecithin, Squalane,  Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide NP, Sodium Levulinate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Maltodextrin, Sodium Anisate, Limonene, Linalool.

It seems like Kypris are currently having a “moment” and I couldn’t be happier for Chase (the lovely founder) and the whole team. I absolutely love this serum and recommend it to everyone with oily, combination or acne prone skin because it is the best at healing, balancing and soothing the skin. It is potent but gentle and will help keep your skin in check without damaging it with harsh products. It also layers beautifully with other products and smells incredible.  I wrote about it more in my October Empties and I would definitely suggest picking up the Sample Set I featured here, because every product in the line is made with so much love, care and attention to detail and is of the highest quality.

MOISTURIZER: ODACITÉ OLEOSOMES TIME RELEASE DELIVERY CRÈME* $68/£55

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera) leaf extract, Organic Alcohol Extracts of Calendula Officinalis (Organic Calendula) Flower (and) Camellia Sinensis (Organic White Tea) Leaf, Butyrospermum Parkii (Organic Shea) Butter, Carthamus Tinctorius (Saflower) Oleosome (and) Aqua, Cetearyl Olivate (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Cetyl Palminate (and) Sorbitan Palminate, Organic Glycerin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Organic Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba(Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Anisic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (and) Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (and) Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract, Rosmarinus Offcinalis (Rosemary) leaf extract and Helinatus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil.

I never thought I would ever have a moisturizer in a year end Favourites but here it is. This product from Odacité just impressed me so much with how well it hydrated my skin during a period of time where I was catching a flight every other day (really) so it had to be included. I did a full review on it here, so all I will say now is: if you are dry/hydrated or hate moisturizers then give this one a go.

OIL: NUDE SKINCARE PROGENIUS OMEGA TREATMENT RESCUE OIL* $68/£58 (Ultimate Favourite Award)

Ingredients: Isoamyl Laurate, Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Squalene, Bakuchiol, Coleus Forskohlii Root Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool.

This amazing product from one of my all time favourite brands gets the Ultimate Favourite Award because it has been my most used and most loved product from the moment I was lucky enough to get my hands on it. I wrote about it here and here and cannot recommend it enough. This is one product that I think would suit every skin type because it’s light enough for those with oily skin but hydrating enough (without being heavy) for those that are dry/dehydrated. If you are acne prone, this is definitely for you too. It will calm, balance and heal the skin as well as tackle hyper pigmentation and wrinkles. NUDE currently have a couple of sample sets available (which I wrote about here and here), one of which includes a deluxe sample of the oil, cleanser (another favourite) and the fizzy wash, so if you want to give it a go, get a set and see what you think!

BALM: AFRICAN BOTANICS MARULA SKIN REPAIR BALM £40 (Absolute Essential Award)

Ingredients: Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula Essential Oil), Butyrosperum Parkii (Shea Butter), Calendula Officinalis (Calendula Extract), Eriocephalus Punctulatus (Cape Camomile), Olea Eurpaea (Olive Fruit Oil), Miel (Honey), Bulbinella Frutescens (Bulbinella Extract), Helichrysum Italicum (Immortelle Extract), Aspalathus Lineraris (Green Rooibos Tea Extract), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera).

I discovered this in December 2013 when NYC was going through the infamous polar vortex (best/worst holiday season EVER, lol) and I am not exaggerating when I say this saved my skin during that trip. This balm is the best I’ve ever tried and I cannot be without it. It’s incredible at healing all kinds of skin issues and does so with simple yet excellent ingredients. This tiny tub has lasted me over two years and even though I technically have a full size (it’s currently with my mum), I will refill this one to keep in my travel kit. African Botanics recently reformulated and repackaged the balm (here) and I am so excited to try the new version because they’ve added some amazing ingredients and it just seems like the new formula is going to be even better than the original.

EXFOLIATOR: BRAVURA LONDON 2% SALICYLIC ACID PEEL £9.59* (Star Product Award)

Ingredients: Distilled Water, Salicylic acid, Propylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hydroxide.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you will be very familiar with this product and know exactly why it’s one of my favourites of the year. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this stuff is good skin in a bottle and I highly recommend it to anyone with oily/acne prone skin or those who deal with enlarged pores or constant break outs. This has been amazing at keep my skin clear, no matter how badly I eat, how little I sleep or how lazy I get with my skincare routines (basically me from Thanksgiving to New Year’s). Even if you don’t have particularly problematic skin, I would still suggest you get this to use as a spot treatment to heal blemishes quickly and effortlessly. I did a full review here and here.

PURIFYING MASK: OMOROVICZA DEEP CLEANSING MASK $120/£57

Ingredients: Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Kaolin, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Silt (Hungarian Mud), Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Olivate, Zinc Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbitan Olivate, Mannitol, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Saccharomyces (Hungarian Thermal Water) Ferment Extract, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum (Fragrance), Yeast Extract, Phospholipids, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol.

This mask is extremely expensive but I have to say, it was one of my most used and most loved of last year. It is incredibly purifying but does not leave my skin feeling stripped, tight or dry, and that is really important to me when it comes to clay masks. I only use this once or twice a month and it does a lovely job of drawing out all the gunk without creating an imbalance. I definitely think there are decent cheaper options out there, but I just really enjoy using this one and love how smooth and soft my skin feels after I remove it so it’s well worth the price to me. Omorovicza have a few different sample kits available, which I highly recommend as a way to try the brand and they are currently offering 20%, which should help make the price of this mask a tad more manageable.

When Pai introduced this amazing mask in to their permanent lineup I was so happy. It had previously been a Christmas limited edition product and I remember using it very sparingly as I was so afraid of running out of it, that’s how good it is. It’s hydrating without being greasy or feeling heavy and also works to calm, sooth and restore radiance. I love wearing this while in the bath because afterwards my skin is just soft, smooth and glowing. Winter is here and temperatures are dropping all over, and this is a great remedy for the resulting dull/dry skin issues this type of weather brings. You can read more about it here.

BRIGHTENING MASK: TATA HARPER RESURFACING MASK $55/£44

Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, Salix alba (Willow) bark extract*, Sclerotium gum, Lactobacillus Ferment, Lactobacillus/Punica granatum fruit ferment extract, Leuconostoc ferment filtrate (radish root extract), , Maltooligosyl Glucoside, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Beta vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Kaolin (Rose Clay), Sodium phytate, Aroma**, Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Geraniol. *Ingredients from organic farming. ** Clinical grade essential oils blend.

This mask is one of my absolute favourite products from the entire Tata Harper line and I have lost count of the amount times it has been repurchased over the years. It is excellent at renewing and healing the skin and can be used in a number of ways. You can either leave it on for 20-60 minutes (depending on available time) for a quick skin refresh, or you can leave it on while you sleep as an overnight treatment. It can even be used on individual blemishes to spot treat, which is so handy. I wrote about it more here and here, so check those out because this is an essential product to have in your skincare arsenal.

SUNSCREEN: DRUNK ELEPHANT UMBRA SHEER PHYSICAL DEFENSE SPF 30 $38

Ingredients: Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Steareth-2, Ceteryl Alcohol, Steareth-21, Sea Water, Algae Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Haematococcus Pluvialis Algal (Astaxanthin) Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Sprout Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Acetyl Glucosamine, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Raspberry Seed Oil/Tocopheryl Succinate Aminopropanediol Esters, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Glycine, Sucrose, Lecithin, Silica, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Mica Carmine (CI 75470), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Water (Aqua).

I discovered so many amazing new brands last year and Drunk Elephant are definitely one of the them. Until I found this product, I struggled to use sunscreen on a daily basis because they would leave my skin looking and feeling awful and I just couldn’t bare it, but not anymore. This amazing sunscreen leaves my skin with a soft, matte finish and most importantly, doesn’t break me out or make me look like I could fry food on my face by the end of the day (ew). If you hate sunscreen, you really must give this a go. I wrote more about it here, oh and definitely check out their adorable sample kit – it’s so cute!

EYE PRODUCT: OSKIA EYE WONDER SERUM £48

Ingredients: Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM), Glycerin, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Alcohol, Whey Protein, Zinc Glycine, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture, Limonium Narbonense Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate Lysate, Galactoarabinan, Panthenol, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Lactic Acid.

Like sunscreen, eye cream was something I knew I needed to use but just really struggled to get behind. I have used eye products on and off over the years but never really found anything I loved enough to stay consistent with. When I tried a sample of this I instantly fell in love. It has a light texture that absorbs very quickly and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes at all, even when I sleep. I love the ingredients and even though I have only been using it a couple of months, it’s already a favourite because it’s one the best eye products I have ever used. The only downside is I am currently having an issue with the packaging, which I am waiting to hear back from the brand about. I will have a full review of this very soon, along with the Renaissance Cleanser and the new and currently unreleased Renaissance 360 Cream.

I would love to know what your favourite products of 2015 were and if any of these made your list.
